In many parts of Southern/Northern Ontario, especially the Parry Sound District, you can buy a paradise sanctuary northern Ontario property in a rural zoned area from a respected real estate professional and someone can buy the house/cottage next door and plop down a sawmill right beside you and there is nothing you can do about it!
Not this township or the province of Ontario.
Who would visit you, – leave alone buy your northern Ontario property real estate next to a sawmill.
It’s the wild west up here.
They make their noise with their sawmill machines, chainsaws, huge trucks and caterpillar track excavators with the “BEEP BEEP BEEP” and then blast rock music afterwards and then race very loud dragster engines from 2 to 3am. after midnight.

Before we bought up here our real estate agent said our northern Ontario property house for sale was very quiet. We checked all the neighbours and everything was fine. Then one neighbour sold and that changed everything.
I am writing this as a warning to those who want a safe, secure and quiet lifestyle by buying a piece of real estate in the northern Ontario country side.
You may get surprised! You may lose your investment!
We wanted a nice hobby farm and picked one away from noisy roads and businesses.
When the sawmill beside us first started we even talked to the McMurrich Montieth municipality about this and they said it could not happen. Then it did happen and no one can do anything about it.
In the meantime real-estate property values will fall as a sawmill has the equivalent neighbourhood stature as a slaughterhouse.
And as in all neighbourhoods, if one can start, as in graffiti and pot shops- then many others will follow.
